Leo Clasen Leo Clasen was a Holocaust survivor who was imprisoned in the Sachsenhausen concentration camp because of his homosexuality.〔(Steakley, James, "Homosexuals and the Third Reich," ''The Body Politic'', issue 11, Canada, 1974 )〕 He wrote about his experiences in 1954–1955 in the Hamburg magazine ''Humanitas, Monatszeitschrift für Menschlichkeit und Kultur'',〔(Jensen, Erik N., "The Pink Triangle and Political Consciousness: Gays, Lesbians and the Memory of Nazi Persecution," ''Sexuality and German Fascism'', p. 323, ed. Herzog, Dagmar, Berghahn Books, New York, New York, USA, 2005 )〕 which was published in seven parts under the pseudonym L. D. Classen von Neudegg.〔(Zastrau, Eberhard, "Funktionshäftlinge mir dem rosa Winkel im Krankenrevier des ehemaligen KZ Sachsenhausen" )〕 His account is one of the most significant records of the experience of homosexuals during the holocaust.
